Heather is a native Houstonian and lifelong prosecutor. After graduating from Texas A&M University, she obtained her Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law. Heather then spent four years working as a prosecutor in the Rio Grande Valley before returning to Houston, where she has spent the past decade as an appellate prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney's Office. During that time, Heather has reviewed the legality of trial court rulings in hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases and acquired extensive knowledge of criminal law.
Heather has argued before the 1st Court of Appeals, the 13th Court of Appeals, and the 14th Court of Appeals. Heather has also represented the State of Texas before the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, and the United States Supreme Court.
Heather is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas District & County Attorneys Association, and the Appellate Section of the Houston Bar Association. Heather volunteers as a judge for moot court competitions and is an active member of Second Baptist Church.
Heather is running because she believes that judges are public servants who have a duty to follow the rule of law and keep the community safe from crime. Too often, judges undermine the public's confidence in the legal system by releasing repeat, violent offenders on bail without considering the safety of victims, law enforcement officers, or the community. To counter the rising crime rates, Houston needs judges that are committed to restoring justice in Harris County.
